Fidel V. Luna

February 20, 1937 — December 30, 2015

Fidel Villa Luna, our "Tata," passed away on December 30th, 2015 at age 78, surrounded by loved ones.

Fidel was born in Modesto, California, to Baudi & Agustina Luna. At age 17, on a trip to Tijuana, Fidel met Francisca Miranda. Fidel used to say, "this girl is going to be mine." They were married 7 months later. Fidel and Francisca purchased their first home in Carson. They have lived there for the past 53 years. It is at this home that they made many beautiful memories with their growing family. In their free time they went camping in Ensenanda, fishing in Oxnard and Lake Elsinore, and attended LA Dodger games as a family. Fidel loved the LA Dodgers and shared this passion with many of his children and grandchildren. He loved listening to Vin Scully on his little radio, held up to his ear.

Fidel retired after 39 years as a Master Machinist from Harvey Aluminum (Martin Murietta/International Light Metals). Fidel was very "handy" and could build anything. He liked to spend most of days after retirement in his garage, relaxing and fixing things.

Fidel is survived by his five children, Norma Hughes, Tina Aguilar, Laura Luna, Oscar Luna, and Frank Luna; eleven grandchildren, Marina Aguilar, Marciala Gonzalez, Melanie Aguilar, Regina Lucy, Ali Garcia, Jake Luna, Dean Luna, Ava Luna, Reed Luna, Mya Martinez, and Kalonji Luna; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Suarez, Damian Suarez, Jonathan Castro, Avery Garcia, Emily Gonzalez, and Stella Lucy.

Fidel and Frances celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary at Fidel's hospital bedside, just before Fidel passed.

Fidel will be reunited with his two children in heaven, his daughter Maria Francisca, and his son, Vito, "Fidel Jr."
