Fay "Darleen" Cook

Fay “Darleen” Cook, age 79, passed away September 5th, 2017 in the home of her daughter/and caregiver of 2 ½ years Kathy Allen in Lakewood CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Lee Cook, brother Archie Stuart, sisters Dotty Sola and Mary Kay Hatch, and parents Sherman and Mildred Stuart.

Darleen was born in Willow Springs, MO and lived the last 70 years of her life in San Pedro and Lomita CA. She attended San Pedro High School. “Mrs. Cook” was a cafeteria worker for the Los Angeles Unified School District for over 36 years dedicating her day to feeding and touching the hearts of many elementary school children at Park Western and Crestwood in San Pedro, and finally retiring from Gulf Ave. in Wilmington CA in 2003. She was a strong supporter of Girl Scouts of America, PTA, USPS union and an avid blood donor for the Red Cross.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and co-worker, always putting others before herself. She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her support and opening her home in times of need. Her Family and Friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen & Rodney Allen of Lakewood CA, Deborah & Guy Shea of Hackett AR, Christopher & Gabriela Cook of Bellevue WA, and Rene Cook of Lakewood CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Guy Lee and Charles Joseph Shea, Gary and Stuart Spears, Charles Nagel, Alexandra and Kristen and Gavin Cook, Forest and Nicky Allen, and Many Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Memorial Services will be conducted in Rancho Palos Verdes CA on this Saturday September 9th 4pm - 7pm at Green Hills Memorial Chapel
