Evelyn Mitchell

Evelyn Mitchell passed away on February 24, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born on August 28, 1927 in Greece and was a resident of Redondo Beach, California. She is survived by her husband, Alex Mitchell, children, Ann (Gregory) Hambly, Mike (Barbara) Mitchell, grandchildren, Eric Hambly, Randy Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell, Stephanie (Matt) Mies, great granddaughters, Sophia Mies, Madelyn Mies, and her brother, Peter Hatzopoulos. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Madeline Nicolau and Olga Constantino.

Evelyn was at the center of family gatherings in the home she shared with her husband, Alex, for 62 years. Evelyn was happiest when her family was gathered around her dinner table. She took special pride in the Greek desserts she baked for her children and their families to enjoy. Among her specialties were her Greek bread, twist cookies and, especially, her Baklava. Evelyn's cooking and baking were her expressions of love for her family.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at The Historic Church of Green Hills, Rancho Palos Verdes.
