Evelyn Mae Jacobelly

July 26, 1925 — December 8, 2013

In loving memory of Evelyn Mae Jacobelly who was blessed with a long life of 88 years. She passed away peacefully on December 8, 2013.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Judy McCaskill (Charlie) of San Jose, Bob Jacobelly (Rene Phillips) of Pensacola, FL; and Cathy Bourassa (John) of Harbor City. Besides her children she leaves 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her loving sister Norma Couch and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was a California native and lifelong resident of the Harbor Bay area. She was the daughter of Charles Oscar Veazey and Ida Mahalia Akers. While attending Banning High School, she met and married Peter Jacobelly, of San Pedro. They were married 65 years. Peter died in 2006.

Evelyn was a very busy lady and enjoyed her social circle which included friends now long gone from The Order of Eastern Star, Las Vincenas and The Benevolent Order of the Elks. Through these organizations she and Pete made many, many friends.

She worked for Kaiser Permanente several years in various patient support positions. When Pete retired they were able to travel the world. She was an avid golfer and poker player most of her active years. Our mother was strong and brave. Throughout her life she remained feisty and determined. She was devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed her garden, being outdoors watching the kids by the pool, books, wine, and parties anywhere. Mom touched the lives of all she knew with her generosity and warm spirit.

The Jacobelly family is most grateful for the loving and tender care Evelyn received from her devoted caregiver Phoebe who became her best friend and link-to-life in her last years.

We will miss our Mom deeply, but we are grateful for all the wonderful times spent with an always interested, fun-loving, elegant matriarch.
