EVA E. FRLEKIN
October 24, 1921 - October 4, 2014
Eva was born in Bellingham, Washington on October 24, 1921. She was raised in San Pedro, CA where she attended Mary Star of the Sea Grade School and graduated from San Pedro High School. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Slavko Frlekin. Before his passing, she raised their four children, James, Ray, Steve and Elaine while working side by side with her husband, acting as his accountant, in their family business "Slavko's Harbor Poultry." She was very active in the San Pedro community serving as president of the Mary Star of the Sea PTA and VeLi Gospa Society. Eva also served as a major fund raiser for the building that is now standing as Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She was the first PTA President of the former Fermin Lausen High School. One of her last accomplishments was serving as chairman of the Fishing Memorial Committee and provided the leadership in erecting the fishing memorial monument located on Fifth Street and Harbor Blvd. in San Pedro. She had two sisters, one still living, Marie Ursich and Jean Welle, who preceded her in death. Eva helped raise two of her grandchildren, Michelle O'Brien and Brian Frlekin. She left behind four children, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two daughter-in-laws and many cousins including her close traveling companion and cousin, Mary Zorotovich of Seattle, WA. The family wishes to thank Eva's care givers, Mele and Grace who made it possible for mom to spend her final days at home. A Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church on Friday, October 17th at 10:30 A.M. with the interment immediately following at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
