Eugene E. Mcnany

September 10, 1954 — January 9, 2012

Gene was born on September 10th, 1954 in San Benito, Texas. He passed away on January 9th, 2012 at home in the arms of his sweetheart, Kristin. He grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey and loved spending summers at his family's house in Seaside Heights and working diligently to become an eagle scout at a young age. Through his high school and college years, his passions were wrestling and rugby. Gene graduated from Hobart College in New York State with a BA in economics. After graduating, he drove across the country to meet a "California girl" and never left. Gene worked hard and had a successful career in the financial industry; but the true passions in his life were family, coaching, fishing, diving, and his boat Palu. After retiring at age 47, he obtained his Captain's license and worked hard on charter fishing boats catching white sea bass on the backside of Catalina Island. Gene and Kristin raised their children in Palos Verdes Estates; Gene was a devoted husband, father, and son. He will be remembered for his piercing blue eyes, quick Irish wit, tremendous life coaching ability, humor, and uncanny ability to catch big fish. He is survived by his wife Kristin of 30 years, sons Colin and Peter, daughter Britt; his parents Dolores and Eugene McNany Sr., brothers and sisters, Timmy, Danny, Collen and Maureen. The family would like to thank the angels to the end, Dr. Glen Komatsu, Dr. Robert Lugliani, Adriana, Emalini and Simulata (Go All Blacks!... New Zealand rugby joke). "You can give a boy a fish, and you can feed him for a day. Teach a boy to fish, and you can feed him for a lifetime." In lieu of flowers, please donate to ALS research Golden West Chapter.
