Esther Peterkovich, 89, daughter of Stanley and Katrina Kuklik, unexpectedly joined her husband John in Heaven peacefully during the night of April 3, 2013. Esther was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 10, 1923. She met the love of her life in 1942 just before he was deployed to the Pacific Theatre by the U.S. Marines. Their love resumed after the war and they were married on September 7, 1946. Ten years later they begrudgingly left behind their families and friends in Chicago to begin the 2000 mile adventure to the promised land of California. They bought a modest new tract home in the west hills of San Pedro where they both remained for the rest of their lives. Esther was a Unit Clerk for the County of Los Angeles for over 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Anthony Peterkovich, Jr., in 2008. She is survived by only one of her six siblings, sister Rose (Dick) Vessely of Bemigi, Minnesota, and by her only son John A. Peterkovich of San Pedro and Granddaughter Jillian A. Peterkovich, currently residing in Lake Balboa, California. She also leaves many beloved Nieces, Nephews, Grandnieces and Grandnephews. She had a "happy" heart and enjoyed bowling with her league buddies at Palos Verdes Bowl. She rejoiced in God and music, and dearly loved attending the Christmas Eve services of Ocean View Baptist Church. She was also grateful for her Malgren family of neighbors who cared for her and each other, many of whom she had known and loved for over half her lifetime. Visitation is scheduled from 3 PM to 8 PM on Friday, April 19 at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes. Funeral Services will be held Saturday April 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Green Hills Chapel with burial to follow. Please sign the guestbook, upload photos and express your feelings.
