Ervine "Skip" Helm

February 1, 1936 — January 17, 2015

Skip passed away peacefully on January 17, 2015. The longtime former Rancho Palos Verdes resident is survived by his loving wife, Teri; children, Robert (Lyndsay) Helm, Jonna (Pablo) Mitjans, and Kristin Helm; grandchildren, Owen & Jacob Helm, and Jonathan & Matthew Mitjans; sister, Patricia Campbell; nephew, Scott (Evelyn) Campbell; niece, Lesley Schou; and great-nieces, Kaila Campbell, Randi & Kenzie Schou. Skip was born February 1, 1936 in Virginia to parents John and Phyllis Helm. Skip will be remembered as a kind, selfless, and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Skip lived in Hawaii during the attack on Pearl Harbor, played baseball for William & Mary before graduating with a Bachelor Degree from Cal State Los Angeles and Master Degree from the University of Southern California. Skip went on to a successful career with Southern California Edison. In retirement, Skip and his wife traveled and he could often be found on the golf course. As a loving husband, Skip married Teri in 1971 and they spent 43 loving years together. As a dedicated father, Skip enjoyed being involved with his kids' activities including being President of Silver Spur Little League. As an avid sports fan, Skip was a long time USC football season ticketholder and enjoyed cheering on the Trojans, Dodgers, and Cal Poly Mustangs.
