Enrico R. Bautista, Sr.

February 18, 1952 — November 11, 2012

Enrico "Jimbo" Bautista, Sr. was born on February 18, 1952 to Armando and Elisa Bautista in Manila, Philippines. He was the oldest of his siblings Edgar, Edmun, Eric and Antonette. He grew up in Santa Cruz, Laguna and attended Pedro Guevarra Memorial High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Ruby Reyes. He graduated from high school in 1968 and enlisted in the Navy in 1972. Jimbo & Ruby dated off and on throughout high school and got married in December 1973 after the birth of their first child, Anna. Their second child, Charlotte was born in September 1974.
While in the Navy, he traveled to many countries, such as Spain, Guam, Vietnam, Japan, and Diego Garcia Island. After he left the Navy in 1980, he started working for the United States Postal Service and in 1981, Jimbo and Ruby gave birth to their third child, Enrico Bautista, Junior.
Jimbo had many hobbies… He belonged to the Radio Pinoy CB Club where he met many new friends and attended many of their functions. He also loved to bowl and bowled in many leagues and many tournaments. He started playing golf for awhile after he stopped bowling.
In 1992, Jimbo's first grandchild was born, Karissa. The year after, his second grandchild, Kayla was born. He loved his grand children very much and would help take care of them. His third grandchild, Kelly was born in 2000. Because of his schedule with the Post Office, Jimbo was able to take care of Kelly every day.
In 2009, Jimbo retired from the Post Office and spent his first few months learning how to cook for his family. He walked every morning at the nearby park. This past March, Jimbo was blessed with his first grandson, Dominic. He was very excited to have a grandson and also helped babysit him. On August 25, Jimbo found out he was having another grandson.
On August 29, Jimbo was admitted to the hospital and on September 12, he had surgery to replace an aortic valve put into his heart on 11/11/99... On September 16, he had to have emergency surgery to fix a vein that burst... After the second surgery, he seemed to be ok but was not able to breathe on his own and could only communicate by nodding his head and pointing to letters on a board. Although the valve replacement was a success, Jimbo was never ever to fully heal because the original surgery in '99 caused an accumulation of scar tissue around his heart and his lungs prevented them from expanding fully on their own. Last month, his kidneys failed and he had to start getting dialysis. Then his liver failed. He also had a gout flare up which caused him so much pain that morphine wasn't strong enough to relieve him and stronger meds were administered, which caused him to pass out. On November 4, the doctor informed his family that there was nothing he could do because Jimbo was too weak to survive any type of transplant and the only thing keeping him alive was his blood pressure medication and the breathing machine. His family decided to give him another week so that his family could say their goodbyes. Yesterday, he stopped receiving his blood pressure medication at 10:30a and his family spent his last few hours with him. He left his family on November 11, 2012 to be with his mother and father.
