Emerita R. Gomez

Maria Emerita Rodriguez-Gomez, 82 years old, died at home in Wilmington, California, on December 19th, 2017.
Born June 7, 1935 in San Diego, California, to Jose Rodriquez y Casal born in Spain and Margarita Smith Rodriguez born in Tijuana, Mexico, she attended grammar school in Tijuana, Mexico, high school in San Diego, California, nursing degree in College of San Diego, Cosmetology license in San Pedro California, and Real Estate Salesperson License in Los Angeles, California.

On April 27th, 1957, she married Leon Gomez born in San Francisco del Rincon Guanajuato, Mexico. Emerita gave birth to four children all in San Pedro,California Maria Yolanda Gomez-Meza(1958), Juan Manuel Gomez(1960), Patricia Gomez-Klune(1963) & Jose Mario Gomez(1965).
She lived in Tijuana Mexico, San Ysidro, California, and San Pedro, California. She worked as owner/operator of “Casa Blanca” beauty salon in San Pedro California, co-owner of “Restaurant Plaza” in Ensenada Baja California, Mexico, and co-owner of Casa Gomez Reality in Wilmington California, until retiring in 1985. Emerita and Leon enjoyed their yearly travels to various parts of Mexico, Hawaii and California.
Emerita will be especially remembered for her never ending dedication and sacrifices for her family. She was a fierce competitor and a softball manager for the girls San Pedro Bobby Sox teams in the mid 1970’s.

Survivors include Maria Yolanda Gomez-Meza daughter and husband Angel Meza living in Wilmington, California, Patricia Gomez Klune daughter and husband Anthony Klune, living in Long Beach, California.
Grandchildren: Angel Jose Meza III and wife Brittany Meza, living in Gardena, California, Adrian Joshua Meza, living in Wilmington, California, Alexander Leon Meza living in Wilmington, California, Katherine Nichole Klune living in Long Beach, California, Samantha Klune, living in Long Beach, California and Anthony Klune living in Long Beach, California, Maria Yolanda Galindo, sister and husband Raul Galindo living in San Ysidro California, Manuel Rodriguez brother and wife Anna Rodriguez living in San Ysidro California, Maria Guadalupe Galindo-Mosqueda niece and husband Sergio Mosqueda living in San Ysidro California, Mariela Rodriguez niece, living in San Ysidro California, Andres Rodriguez nephew living in San Ysidro California. Sabrina Mosqueda gran-niece living in San Ysidro, California and Stephanie Mosqueda grand-niece living in Utah.

Emerita was preceded in death by her husband Leon Gomez (61), son Juan Manuel Gomez (33), son Jose Mario Gomez (11).
Services will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, 27th of December 2017 at Green Hills Mortuary 27501 South Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. Burial will be at the same address proceeding service.
