Elvira Helga Schneider

March 21, 1925 — September 28, 2013

Elvira Helga Schneider was born in Essen, Germany to Gustav and Thekla Borck. At the age of 8, she lost her father, and the family grew up in Langenndernbach, in the state of Hessen, Germany. Shortly after the war, Elvira married Heinrich Schneider; they had two children, Ilse (Persichina) and Claudia (Lockwood). The family immigrated to America. Heinrich came one year earlier then sent for his wife, children and Elvira's mother, Thekla. They settled in Culver City and after a few years moved to Rancho Palos Verdes where they both lived to the end of their lives. Elvira was preceded in death by her husband, Heinrich, in 1984 and her sister, Ilse Corwin, who died in 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Ilse (Lou) and Claudia; grandchildren, Anthony (Mindy) Persichina, Michael Persichina, David Lockwood, Dr. Samantha Lockwood, Joseph Persichina and Jonathan Lockwood; great-grandchildren, Wilkins, Sutton and Mercer Persichina; nieces, Cathy Corwin McDonald and her family, and Doris (Corwin) Robinson and family, and all the dear friends that she made along the way. She is also survived by the family members and friends in Germany that mourn with us. She was a very independent and private person who in the last 28 years lived by herself and took great pride in her family. I know she would also like to thank all the good people that helped her with her battle with Thyroid Cancer. She was strong and determined to do it her way. Like Frank Sinatra's song "I did it my way." A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 11, 2013 1:00 pm at St. John Fisher Catholic Church located at 5448 Crest Road in Rancho Palos Verdes.
