Gus passed away peacefully in his sleep at home. He and his older brother Vernon were born in North Dakota to Albert and Olga Muehler. Gus was 9 when his family packed up the Model T and moved to California. He graduated from Narbonne High School in 1945 after which he went on to play professional baseball. While enjoying his baseball career, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed his service time playing baseball for the Army throughout Europe. He met the love of his life, Polly Henry, and they married in 1952. Soon to be followed by their son Steve and daughter Suzee. In 1955, Gus followed in his father's footsteps and became a longshoreman. He was promoted to foreman in 1967 and retired in 1990.
Gus lived a long happy life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, many friends and his hobbies. He loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and spend time at his river house.
He is survived by his children Steve and Suzee, daughter-in-law Janine, and 2 grandson Ty and Max.
A memorial services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on Thursday, June 10th at 11:30 AM.
A reception will be held following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations made to the American Heart Association.
