Ellen Toi Yiu Fong Ho, passed away on October 13, 2023 at Brookdale Montclair Assisted Living in Poulsbo, Washington. She was 95 years old.
Ellen was born August 9, 1928, to Kee Ho Lim and Kong Chem Fong in Pahala, Hawaii. She was the fifth child of eight but also had five older half siblings. After graduating from Pahala High School, Ellen attended the University of Hawaii majoring in journalism. During her freshman year at the UH, Ellen sold magazine subscriptions door to door; it was a knock on a door that brought Raymond Ho into her life. They married June 9, 1947 and started a home together in Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii. In 1952, they moved to California with their two young sons. They ultimately had two more children and settled in the Los Angeles area.
When the children were older, Ellen went to work for the State of California Worker’s Compensation as a clerk typist. She was a dedicated worker and earned the award, Employee Of The Year. She enjoyed traveling and took trips across the country, to Europe and Asian. She enjoyed knitting , crocheting and sewing.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Raymond, her son Richard, sisters Helen and Anna and brothers William, Lung Teng, and Lung Yau.
Ellen is survived by her sons David (Patrice) Ho, Donald Ho, daughter Patricia Galvan, grandsons Michael (Colleen) Ho, Evan (Patty) Ho, Phillip Galvan and granddaughter Jennifer (Patrick) Ward in addition to her brother, Harry (Sue) Fong, sister Betty Kamahele and sister‐in‐law Shirley Leong. While we will miss her, we know that she will be looking after us and one day we will be reunited with her.
