Ellen Shen

Following a courageous battle with cancer, Ellen Shen of Torrance passed away on July 13, 2023, at the age of 52, surrounded by her loved ones.

Ellen was born on January 24, 1971, in Taiwan, where she was lovingly raised in a big family that shaped her into the devoted wife and mother she would eventually become. Her studies led her to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she graduated with a Master of Science in Business Administration. She married Jerry Shen on January 9, 2000 in Taipei, Taiwan. Jerry and Ellen decided to immigrate to Torrance, California, in 2006 with her two children. She considered Torrance home for the rest of her life. In Torrance, Ellen earned her CPA certification and had a long career at American Honda Finance Corporation, where she worked for over a decade. She was also an integral member of her community at Bread of Life Church.

Ellen’s vibrant spirit and generosity made a lasting impact on her friends and family. An accomplished cook, her delicious meals will be remembered by her children. Ellen had a lasting love for nature and could often be found walking along the beach at sunset with her husband.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jerry Shen, her daughter Lillian Shen, and her son Angus Shen.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:30 am at Green Hills Memorial Park.
