Elizabeth (Betty) Shelton (Fagan) was called Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 1, 2014. Betty had a long and richly fulfilling life during her 89 and a half years. She was married to the love of her life, John, for 55 years; raised and nurtured five children; took great pride in doating over her 12 grand children and five great grandchildren; and, retired from her second career with Hewlett Packard after raising her large family. Betty was born in Oakland, California in 1924 to Richard and Myrtle Fagan. As a youngster, her family moved to Fort Stanton, New Mexico, where her father served as Hospital Administrator. While attending the University of New Mexico, Betty met a young engineering student, John Shelton, and they were married in 1943. They lived in Galveston, Texas, Alamogordo, New Mexico, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and moved to Torrance, California in 1963. Both John and Betty were very active members of Riviera United Methodist Church in Redondo Beach. Betty was a member of the church choir for over 50 years and played in the handbell choir. She moved to the Canterbury in Rancho Palos Verdes in 2009, and is now safely in her final Home rejoicing with Jesus and all her loved ones and friends who have gone Home before her. She is survived by her five children David from Bakersfield, CA; Richard from Glendale, AZ; Karen, from Lindsay, CA;, Kathy from Seal Beach, CA; and Kristi, from Houston, TX. Betty will interned at Green Hills Memorial Park in a private service. The family invites all those who knew and loved Betty to a celebration of her life at Riviera United Methodist Church, 375 Palos Verdes Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Betty Shelton Memorial Fund at Riviera United Methodist Church.
