Elisabeth Ehrl

Our beloved mother passed away on Valentine's Day.
Elisabeth Ehrl was born in Mainz, Germany on June 1, 1930 and passed away on February 14, 2013 in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. She and her husband, Winfried, immigrated to Canada in 1956, and then eventually made their way to Southern California in 1960. She is survived by her three children: Winfried Fred Ehrl, daughter-in-law Xochitl, granddaughter Dominique; daughter Jamie Ehrl and son-in-law Albert; daughter Nicole Ely, son-in-law Mark, and grandson Scott; and brother Manfred, sister-in-law Gisela, and brother Hans-Peter Schildgen.
Elisabeth was a kind and gentle soul who was a devout Lutheran, loved people and animals, cooking, reading, and traveling. She loved spending time with her family and doting on her four cats Emily, Boppele, Teddy, and Jackie Jr.
She retired after 20 years of service as the Conference Center Manager at The Salvation Army Western Territorial Headquarters, where she was a much loved employee and a "Mom" to many.
Three years ago she realized her life's dream of visiting the Holy Land. When she returned, she described her trip as "awesome."
Elisabeth was a very independent and strong woman, having survived World War II, breast cancer, and over 20 years of extreme arthritis pain. She was the most generous and caring person you could ever meet.
She joins her beloved husband who preceded her in death. We will love and miss her always.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Elisabeth's favorite charities:
