A brave, intelligent, faithful, and loving individual, Elisa came to this country in her early twenties, not speaking the language. That took some courage. She prevailed and was soon employed and making a living in Los Angeles. Her work ethic was impeccable, and it didn’t hurt that she had picked up mechanical skills from her father's machine shop. And no matter how much she worked, she somehow maintained her picture-perfect dress attire. Elisa met her husband Celso Cabrera in Los Angeles and they shared 51 adventurous years together. Elisa was raised Catholic; she attended mass regularly, and she passed her faith onto her five children. Elisa taught herself to read and write English. She eventually applied for US citizenship and attended classes to learn US history. Elisa’s English wasn’t perfect, but she made herself understood. She was a loving and devoted mother who raised five children and managed to keep them from harming one another, which was no small feat! Her children would love to believe they are all a testimony to their mother’s devotion. In addition to her faith, Elisa imparted her hard work ethic and her devotion to family unity. She loved having her entire family together more than anything. She demonstrated this through her dedication to her husband and the effort she put into hosting family gatherings. Elisa is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and other extended family members. She will be missed.
