Elio Maglietto, aka “Al,” age 67, died May 29, 2021, at home after a heartbreaking battle with surgical complications and Lewy Body dementia.
Al was a people person and everyone’s “Little Buddy.” His favorite thing to do in retirement was sit on the front patio and talk to the neighbors passing by. His goal in life was to make people smile.
Al’s first job was delivering newspapers on his bicycle as a youngster. As a young adult, he was employed at Joslin Lumber Co. in Torrance for several years, where he met his future wife, Terry. Al later went to work for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft (now Boeing) as an interior fabricator. He started his lawn service business after a layoff from McDonnell Douglas. He retired from Al’s Lawn Service business in 2015.
Interests over the years included riding motorcycles, woodworking, softball, skiing, tennis, photography, making vinyl decals for friends, and coaching whatever sport his son Kevin was playing.
Al is survived by his wife, Terry; son, Kevin; sister, Brenda; niece Jennifer and children; nephew Michael and children. We will miss him every day.
