Elena Tan Castillo

September 22, 1950 — April 12, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ellen Castillo formerly from Ypaopao, Guam now a resident of Harbor City, California on April 12, 2024. Known for being the best wife, mother, Mama, Lola, sister, Tita, nurse and a friend. Ellen touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love and compassion as a retired nurse at Guam Memorial Hospital after more than 35 years of service.

Ellen shared the best journey, a deep and loving bond with her cherished and beloved husband Eric. Their 35 years of marriage was a true testament to the power of love and partnership. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, let us remember her as a dedicated nurse, excellent mentor, a true friend, loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, a dependable sister and the “best Tita” that her nephews and nieces could have ever asked for.

She is now welcomed at the gate of heaven by her:

Pets: Tashi, Coco and Abby

Her love and legacy lives on with her:

Children, their spouses and her (grandchildren): Joyce and Shannon Bray (Marcus and Madison Bray), Kristoffer and Kay Castillo (Atlas Castillo)

Siblings and their partners: Reynaldo and Dolores Tan, Lilia Jose and Salvador Segovia

Nieces and Nephews, their spouses and (children): Mary Ann “Jeannie” and Mike Johansen (Wesley and Samantha Johansen), Arman Jose and Teri Garcia (Alyssa and Ryan Jose), Allan and Gail Tan (Kameron and Karissa Tan), Lloyd and Marissa Jose (Justin, Collin and Trinity Jose)

She will also be missed by her numerous friends and relatives in Guam, Philippines and Hawaii. Last respects of her cremated remains will be at St. Margaret Mary Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 where a Catholic funeral mass will be offered from 10:00 to 11:00. A celebration of life will be at 22nd Street Landing Restaurant in San Pedro following the mass. Please RSVP by calling Joyce Bray at: 702-575-3038.
