Elaine C. Ohlund, of Torrance, passed away on September 5, 2013, at the age of 83. Elaine was born in Castle Dale, Utah on January 16, 1930 to Niels and Eulalia Nielsen. She was the third youngest of 14 children. Elaine spent her early childhood in Utah and then moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1938. Elaine graduated from Venice High School in 1948. She was quite athletic and as a typical California coed, loved volleyball and excelled in that sport. She also loved to dance and would often put on dance recitals before her class. After graduation, she worked at Security Pacific National Bank as a teller and then as a bank supervisor. After 26 years she retired in 1975. She moved to Torrance in 1970 with her family where she resided for 43 years. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Randy (Ariel) Gomez, Kim (Dana) Marsaw, and stepdaughter Denise (Bill) Russell; 5 grandchildren, Kellie (Tim) Santen, Drew Marsaw, Elizabeth Marsaw, Alexander Marsaw and Collin Marsaw ; 1 great-granddaughter Scarlett Alexa Santen; 3 step grandchildren, Gina Grant, Lisa Grant and Austin (Naomi) Russell; and 1 step great-granddaughter, Lisette Grant. She also leaves one brother, William P. Nielsen of Castle Dale, Utah. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John W. O'Hare, her second husband, Alexis Harry Ohlund, her son Robert Ohlund, stepson Anthony Bice, her parents, 9 brothers and 3 sisters. Elaine was a loyal wife and mother. She loved her grandchildren and was supportive in the things they did. She was committed to her church and served faithfully in many callings, especially to the young children and women of her congregation. She was beloved by many and enjoyed various activities with her family and friends including luncheons, plays and various church outings. We are all so fortunate to have had a mother like you in our lives. We love you grandma! You will always and forever be in our hearts. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 22605 Kent Avenue, Torrance. A private interment will follow at Inglewood Park Cemetery, 720 East Florence Avenue, Inglewood, CA.
