Our beloved Elaine Pearl Nichelson passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the age of 96.
Elaine was born on March 13, 1924 to Paul and Pearl (Rehbein) Telfer of Los Angeles. She was the oldest of two children. Elaine graduated in the winter of 1942 from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles. She worked at Manning's Coffee Shop while in school, and until she met her future husband. Elaine's Aunt Violet set her up on a blind date with John Nichelson, who she worked with, and after two dates John knew he wanted Elaine to be his wife. She married John on December 2, 1943 and raised two daughters, Dianna Sue and Linda Kay. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Husband, John, and her daughter Dianna. She is survived by her brother Ronnie (Barbara), daughter Linda, grandchildren, Mike (Kim), Cyndi, Lisa and Kristin, seven great-grandsons, three great-great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine always had a warm smile and a friendly word for all of those she encountered. Elaine also had a funny sense of humor and she was a great talent in the kitchen but her greatest impact was the support she gave to her husband John through the Kiwanis Organizations he was so actively involved in and together they made a difference. Elaine and John enjoyed traveling with friends and family, takings tons of pictures, going to the Elks Lodge and watching golf and baseball. Elaine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting and spoiling them as often as possible. Elaine also found great joy in her garden on the patio with all her beautiful plants and flowers...
John and Elaine celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary in December and have now been reunited in Heaven. ♥
