Eiko Okura

March 22, 1932 — December 29, 2016

Eiko Okura, 84, passed away from kidney cancer on December 29, 2016 in Walnut Creek, CA. She was born to the late Uheiji and Sato Matsumoto on March 22, 1932 in Chatsworth, CA.
In 1942, Eiko and her family were interned to Manzanar Relocation Camp in Inyo County, CA. She married Tadashi (Tada) Okura on July 30, 1955 and moved to Honolulu, HI. They later moved to Gardena, CA and raised 2 children. They retired to Pahrump, NV for 19 years. Recently, they moved to Walnut Creek, CA to live with their daughter's family.
Eiko enjoyed cooking and hosting family celebrations at their home. Eiko will be remembered for her many delicious meals, especially on New Years. Many friends will also fondly remember the weekly poker parties they hosted. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Eiko is preceded in death by her parents Uheiji and Sato, as well as her 6 siblings and many siblingsinlaws. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, her 2 children Darlene (Russell) Muraoka and Mark (Deb), 4 grandchildren Kalene, Colin, Kyle, Kristen, along with many, many nieces and nephews.
A cremation service will be held at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette, CA on Thursday, January 12, 2016 at 10 am. In addition, funeral services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes on Saturday, February 11, 2016 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to a charity of your choice.
