Eduardo Damien Reyes Sr.

October 16, 1932 — March 14, 2021

Eduardo Damian Reyes, Sr. passed away March 14th, 2021. He is survived by his sons: Eduardo Jr (Grace), and Armando (Desire); his daughter Liberty (John) and his grandchildren: Renae, Andrea, Armando Jr, Miranda and Noah.

Eduardo was born October 16th, 1932, to parents Carmen and Leandro Reyes. He was one of seven Reyes children. He graduated college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, quickly became Merchant Marine and soon after became the Chief Engineer of several maritime vessels.

Eduardo met his wife Elfida Sylvia Montoya in the summer of 1969. They were married in the summer of 1970. Eduardo accomplished a long awaited dream in 1974 when he became the first naturalized American citizen in his family.

He went on to run the USC research vessel “The Valero” for almost ten years before making his way as an Engineer for Kaiser Permenante in Harbor City, California. After 15 years of service he tried his hand at retirement.

Eduardo enjoyed the game of golf and eating at his favorite restaurant, Seafood Town. The loving husband, father, son and friend to all will be sorely missed. If you knew one thing about him, it was his unmistakable smile. That will be the one thing the world will have lost the most.

He was loved by his family and friends for his kindness, generosity, humor and infectious smile, all of which will never be forgotten.

Rest In Peace, “Mr. Wayes!”
