Eduardo “Eddie” Flores was born on August 22, 1946 in San Pedro, Ca. and passed on December 5, 2023 at his home in Artesian, Ca. Eddie was born to Manuel and Concepcion Flores and was 1 of 14 children. He had 10 sisters and 3 brothers all of whom he loved so much.
He grew up in San Pedro and Wilmington Ca. and graduated from Phineas Banning High School in 1964. Soon after graduation he worked for the 101 Ranch Market on PCH before being drafted into the United Stated Army where he served 2 years during the Vietnam War.
Upon his return home from the army he worked in the produce dept at Boys Market and Luckys working his way up to manager and supervisor of several stores until his retirement at the age of 53 in the year 2000.
He married Connie Villegas and lived in Long Beach and Cerritos Ca. with their 2 girls, Monica and Ilene until their separation. A few years later he met and was married to Ruth Abrego for 33 years and they lived together in Artesia, Ca. until his final days.
Eddie loved to play golf and watch just about every sport there was but he loved his Dodgers most of all. He was able to enjoy numerous baseball games with family and friends and was even able to attend a few playoff games, including one of the games in the 2020 World Series. He enjoyed gambling, and at home you’d often find him gardening or eating sunflower seeds while watching sports on tv and then yelling at the top of his lungs if his team was losing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. All you needed to do was tell him that one of his grandkids was having an event at school or was playing some sport and he would be there. Being there for his family and grandchildren is where his passion was. He would do absolutely anything for any one of his family members, especially his children and grandchildren .
Eddie is survived by his wife Ruth Flores, his daughters, Monica, Ilene, Lori, Vinny, and Mandy, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 of his sisters, Carmen, Lindsey, Sally and Marina. He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Concha and his siblings, Irene, Robert, Marylou, Angie, Connie, Rosie, Manuel, Margie and Ernie.
