With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Duffy Anne Walker, who died peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2024, at the age of 66. Born to Margaret and Duncan Walker, Duffy grew up in Rancho Palos Verdes as the second child in a close-knit family she held dear. She attended St. John Fisher School and was a bright student at Palos Verdes High School. After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in 1980, she began a career in accounting, but her greatest pride and purpose came from her family and her faith.
Duffy faced life’s challenges with unyielding determination and remarkable resilience. In her younger years, she enjoyed snow skiing, jogging, crafting, and baking. In her mother’s final years, Duffy cared for her mother’s physical needs with love, providing support and comfort during that time.
Duffy always loved going to the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, where she would spend time watching the whales and browsing for postcards in the gift shop. She looked forward to her outings with her brother Michael; they would enjoy shopping together and stopping to eat at favorite local diners.
One of Duffy’s simple, cherished joys was receiving letters in the mail, a highlight of her day that she treasured deeply. She equally loved writing letters back to her family, often filling them with favorite Bible verses and funny words, always with the possibility of making you laugh. Her faith was an anchor in her life; she found strength in her Bible, solace in Christian music, and peace in classical radio.
Duffy leaves behind her beloved siblings, Hank Walker (Mary), Michael Walker, and Molly Walker Smith (Mike), and her adored nieces and nephews—Anna and Michael Walker, Caleb, Carly, and Chad Smith—each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Duffy’s strength, resilience, and unwavering faith touched all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us of the love, loyalty, and laughter she so freely shared.
