Dorothy S. Reid

Dorothy Leora Steele Reid was born on January 28, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama to Leora E. (Fomby) Steele and Ulysses G. Steele. She graduated from Hooper City High School and later graduated from California State University at Los Angeles.

In 1949, she married Harold N. Reid. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1959. She worked for the United States Postal Service and later as a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She loved her students and found great joy in imparting knowledge and building character.

Dorothy was a devout Christian and a member of St. Albert The Great Catholic Church and many of those years she also sang in the choir. She loved her family, friends and neighbors in her community.

Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Regina (David), Sharon, Harriette (Richard) and niece. Terri (Keife). She also leaves two grandchildren Michelle and Joshua (Trish); five great-grandchildren, Amber, Erin, CJ, Eli and Dorothy; as well as a host of other beloved family who will all miss her dearly.
