Dorothy Louise Newkirk

Dorothy Louise Newkirk passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Torrance, CA. Dorothy was born in Los Angeles, CA to Clarence and Mildred Searing and was the younger of two children. Dorothy was married to Richard James Newkirk on June 30, 1950. They were married for 57 years and had four children: Marjorie, Richard, Daniel, and Laura. Dorothy is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Dorothy will be remembered for her friendly, gracious, loving personality. She was a teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District over 20 years. She loved volunteer work, sewing, cooking, quilting, and singing in the church choir. She was an active member at St Peters by the Sea Church, volunteered at Torrance Memorial Medical Center for over 20 years, and was a member of PEO International.

Memorial services will be performed at St Peters by the Sea Presbyterian Church in Palos Verdes on Saturday, May 7 at 1 PM.

Memorial donations / in lieu of flowers can be made to the St Peters by the Sea camp scholarship fund.
