Dorothy Ann Viehweg was born June 2nd, 1924, the eldest of four children, to Bill & Millie Viehweg. She lived on the family farm near Sioux Falls, SD with her sister Marylee, and brothers Harold and Richard. The family eventually sold the farm and moved to town where Dorothy excelled in all things, including becoming the South Dakota state spelling bee champion while in school.
She married Wendall Morgan and moved to Torrance, CA, where she was loving mother to three children, Jim, Janice and David. She went on to become a grandma and great grandma, and was a beloved auntie, never missing a birthday or special occasion with a card or a word of encouragement. In the 1960s she became a valued member of the Durkee Testing Labs family for over 50 years.
At Wendall’s insistence, she finally learned to drive shortly before he passed. She was active in and loved her church family as much as her immediate and extended families. Dode, as she was lovingly called, recently moved from her long time Torrance home to assisted living in Chino to be near her 3 kids. She passed away April 23, 2023, just shy of her 99th birthday. Everyone she touched loved her quiet and gentle nature, her beautiful smile and loving heart.
