Our beloved Dorothy McKenna made her final transition the morning of July 26, 2024, succumbing to a short-term illness. She was born to Johnny & Helen Castillo in Los Angeles, California. She spent half her life in California, where she graduated from Compton High School. Shortly after high school, she married the love of her life Frederick McKenna. Later in life, she and Fred moved to Oklahoma for his work.
Early on in life, Dorothy and Fred took their family camping and to the beach often. Later in life, she and Fred liked to go fishing, antiquing and explore the small rural towns of Oklahoma. She would get together with her friends over dinner to talk and enjoy their company. While together, she and the girls would play card games like Skip-Bo or Uno. Also, she enjoyed her afternoon soap operas Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless. She knew all the character’s backgrounds and their secrets. These are but a few of the activities that gave Dorothy joy in life.
Dorothy is survived by her sisters Anita K., Dolores and Katherine, son Frederick, daughters Uree and Helen, grandchildren Casey, Joseph, Cody, Lauren and Kaleb and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Johnny, mother Helen, husband Fred and brother David.
Dorothy was known for her infectious smile and laughter which lightened all our hearts. She was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be dearly missed. God granted us the pleasure of having her by our side for 80 years. Now, she is with our Heavenly Father, may she watch over us forever more.
