Dorothy Dora Marovich

Dora Ursich-Marovich passed away peacefully in her beloved home on February 13, 2023. She was born on April 4, 1935 in Selca, Brac, Croatia to Andrija and Karmela Ursich. Once she came to San Pedro, Dora attended San Pedro High School and later became a nurse’s aide. In 1958, she married Pete Marovich. They were happily married until his sudden death in 1978.

Dora enjoyed traveling to Croatia, casino trips, her beautiful home in South Shores, cooking big meals while being the ultimate hostess, watching sports, the love of her family and friends, and her almost-daily coffee clatches. She was also a long-time and very devoted member of the Dalmatian-American Women’s Auxiliary, where she helped in any way she could.

Dora is survived by her daughters, Denise (Karl) Sampson, Patricia (Ane) Mihailovich, and Stephanie (Jesse) Solorio; her grandchildren, Nicole (Patrick) Thomas, Sasha Mihailovich, Julia and Jude Sampson, and Jaxon, Aiden, and Dylan Solorio and she was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Dora is also survived by her siblings and best friends, Tonci Ursich and Mary Vidovich. Dora also leaves behind her brothers and sisters-in law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends and family all over the world. And thank you to Franca and Susana for being such wonderful caregivers to Dora.

Dora’s Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. The Gravesite Service will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Dora’s honor to the Dalmatian-American Club of San Pedro Scholarship Fund or to Crkve (Church) Gospe Karmelske in Selca, Brac, Croatia.
