Dorothy Juanita Hamilton

April 2, 1916 — March 3, 2014

Dorothy Juanita Hamilton, known as Juan to her friends and family, passed away March 3, 2014. She was a true lady, an extraordinary and thoughtful woman who touched many hearts and lives. Born April 2, 1916 in Quanah, TX, Juan married Murray Hamilton in 1938 sharing 59 years until his death. They raised 3 children in Palos Verdes where she lived for 50 years. Juan was the ultimate mother: Girl and Boy Scout leader, baker of cookies, nurse of skinned knees, and caretaker for family and friends in need. Juan was an accomplished home-maker, gracious hostess, and worked with several philanthropic endeavors including Meals on Wheels. Juan loved golf (member of the Palos Verdes Golf Club), bridge, travel, and friends, which she enjoyed with her husband for many years after his retirement. Graceful, gentle, fun-loving with a kind and protective soul toward family and friends, she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children: Judee Wickersham, Bruce and Alan Hamilton; grandchildren: Philip and Murray DuBourdieu, Paul Hamilton, their wives and her five great-grandsons.
The family wishes to thank the Valley View Gardens staff for their loving and vigilant caretaking of our beloved matriarch during the final years of her life. Let her spirit rest in peace as she watches over us today and forever.

A celebration of Juan's life will be held Sunday, May 18 from 2-4 pm at Sea Cliff Country Club, 6501 Palm Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
