Dora Rose Boyer

February 1, 1936 — March 27, 2019

Mrs. Dora Rose Boyer passed away with family by her side in Torrance, California on March 28, 2019 at 83 years old. Coming into the world on February 1, 1936 in Phoenix, Arizona, she was one of eleven children born to the late Bonifacia “Bonnie” Rodriguez Porras and Ocampo Porras. She was preceded in death by seven of her siblings and two of her beloved six children, Raul Espinosa and Margot Ramirez, both from San Pedro.

Rose attended Banning High School in Wilmington and lived most of her life in San Pedro and Torrance. She worked at the Inglewood Courthouse, starting as an interpreter and then as a Supervisor in the Traffic Department. She retired in 1997. Although she was from a large family, Rose remained close to her brothers and sisters throughout their lives. Her father was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and her mother was born in Arizona on the Gila River Indian Reservation and was of native American decent. Her rich cultural heritage was the root of her old-fashioned sincerity and passionate energy that she famously displayed on the dance floor. Although Rose was born into a life hardship, she was rich in happiness and love.

Dancing and gardening were Rose’s favorite past times – she always kept a beautiful rose garden and was the life of any party, even in her later years. Rose was a dedicated member of Mission Ebenezer Church in Carson and a devout Christian. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers she grew and her influence will remain in the lives of all who knew her.

In 1984 Rose met her soulmate Mr. Michael Boyer. They were married in 1987 and shared 35 years of happiness and romance. Her amazing life will forever be cherished in the lives and memories of her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren. Rose always said that if you have love, you are rich. If that is true, she is the richest woman in Heaven, waiting to reunite with her soulmate Michael and the rest of her family on the dancefloor.

She is survived by her husband Michael Boyer, her four children Gilbert Espinosa, Carlos Ramirez, Paul Ramirez, Rebecca Karkkainen; her two daughters-in-law Francis Ramirez and Josette Espinosa; her grandchildren Lorrain Karkkainen-Alford (Kevin Alford), Lanette Banford (Martin Banford), Larry Karkkainen, Lenny Karkkainen, Nathan Espinosa (Stephanie Espinosa), Andrea Connolly (The Honorable Pat Connolly), Serena Ramirez, Selene Ramirez, Janelle Kramarczyk, Joseph Kramarczyk, Garrett Dunlavey, Billy Brady and her ten Great Grandchildren.
