Donald Earl Stidham

December 13, 1932 — March 2, 2019

Donald Earl Stidham, 86, passed away March 3rd 2019, at Providence Transitional Care Center in Torrance California, after a suffering a heart attack. His memorial service will be held this Saturday, March 9th, 11:00 a.m. at Torrance Community Church of the Nazarene, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall.

Donald was born on December 13th, 1932 in Indio, California to Bernice and Rex Stidham. Donald joined the Marine Corp at the age of 17. He moved quickly to the rank of Sergeant. After his service he joined the Naval reserves and then the Marine reserves. He earned a degree in mathematics from California Polytechnic College, Pomona in 1964 and had a successful career as a software engineer in the aerospace industry. He married Beulah Tripp on September 11th, 1953. They raised 2 daughters, Cheryl Dawn, Candace Jean and 1 son, Clifford Ray. Donald was a very devoted husband (mom says the best ever), and wonderful father. From his son’s point of view, he was the best example of what a man, husband and father should be. He was also a man of God and was very involved in his church, served as a board member, Sunday school teacher and sang in the church choir.

A poem written by my sister, Cheryl, reflects very well the type of man and father he was.

“All Dads should be just like mine. Then the whole world would be just fine. Generous and loving, kindness he’ll bring. Each time you call if you need anything. His faith he always is willing to share. Remind us just how much God did care. By sending his Son to free us from sin. Our hearts forever changed from within. He wants us to always to remember God’s love. He shows us daily what comes from above. Wonderful, counselor father to me. I wish all the other fathers could see. Such unselfish love, given generously. Filled with good humor and special to me. This is the example I want all dads to know. Then the light in each heart would be aglow.”

Donald is survived by his wife, Beulah Stidham, his daughter Cheryl Adcock, son-in-law Roger Adcock, his son Cliff Stidham, daughter-in-law Beverly Stidham, grandchildren Geoff Adcock, Laura Morgan, Michael Stidham and Brianna Stidham.

Please deliver any flowers to the church on Saturday.

Graveside Service will be private for immediate family.
