Donald R. Fridley

April 8, 1932 — August 26, 2012

Dr. Donald Fridley passed away peacefully with love and appreciation for all the wonderful people in his life on Sunday, August 26, 2012. At the time, his family was with him in his Rancho Palos Verdes, CA home.

Don was a gifted healer who provided family therapy, psychotherapy, supervision and program management at the South Bay Psychological Center and Del Amo Hospital, consultant services to business and industry on human resources and advanced training for mental health professionals across North America. He was a Professor of Psychology at Pepperdine College and Professor of Psychology Emeritus at El Camino College. As a member and past president of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, he helped educate professionals in the fields of psychology and psychiatry to develop treatments for complex trauma-associated disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, addiction and suicide prevention.

Don was first and foremost a family man, dedicated to his wife, Beverly, with whom he shared life for 52 years, and their four children. He loved nature and
spending family time at their Lake Tahoe cabin. He was a gourmet chef and epicure extraordinaire whose family delighted in sumptuous meals when gathered together. Don was a light-hearted and playful person who enjoyed family fun at Disneyland.

Don is survived by a loving family: his wife, Beverly, his children, David, Mike, Laura and Amanda, and his grandchildren, Ethan, Ashley, Lauren, Colton, Dawnld and Matthew.

A celebration of Don's life will take place at Pacific Unitarian Church,
5621 Montemalaga Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 on September 23, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Dr. Donald Fridley fund for education and research at the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation ( www.isst-d.org ).
