Donald Ray Bulaich

January 4, 1951 — May 14, 2024

Donald Bulaich, affectionately known as "Bubba" to family and friends, was born in San Pedro, CA to John and Carmela Bulaich on January 4, 1951, and passed away on May 14, 2024. Donald was a San Pedro native that didn't stray far from his roots. He graduated from San Pedro High School in 1969, then he immediately served in the US Army reserves. Upon returning home, Donald went to barber school to follow in the footsteps of his father and brothers, so he became a Barber serving clients in San Pedro and Palos Verdes. He later decided he wanted to be a horse veterinarian so he attended Cal Poly Pomona, however, life had different plans for him. He got married in 1976 and began a family shortly after. Don kept his dream going with a horse roping career while he worked in the Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach. In 1984 he started a trucking company, Jamie B Transportation. In the 1990s Donald became an ILWU Local 13 Longshore Casual and Horse Farrier. His horse shoeing company served all over Palos Verdes/Rolling Hills area and ran the business out of his 1954 Chevy Truck that he constructed into a shoeing rig. In succeeding years, Donald’s Longshoreman career advanced and he was elevated to A-Book status. Later, retired years after transferring to ILWU Local 63 as a Marine Clerk. Throughout his life, his passions revolved around horses, fishing, hunting, food, cooking, barbecuing, gardening, the ports, construction, cracking jokes, and most of all spending time with his family and his two daughters.

Donald was preceded in death by his father John Bulaich, mother Carmela Bulaich, Brother John Bulaich, brother Joseph Bulaich, and sister Georgina Bulaich. He is survived by his daughters Jamie Bulaich and Ashley Bulaich. Viewing (June 7, 2024) and Memorial Service (June 8, 2024) for Donald will be held in his honor at Green Hills Memorial Chapel in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, it would be deeply appreciated if donations were made in Don's honor to Empty Saddle Club, 39 Empty Saddle Road, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.
