Dona Ann Kazarian, the daughter of Donald and Charlotte Nasby, passed away peacefully at her home in Rolling Hills, California on July 16, 2014 at the age of 84. She was born December 28, 1929 in Bode, Iowa and grew up in Los Angeles, California.
She learned to play the piano as a child at the direction of her Father. Music became a large part of her life. When she met her Husband Ben in high school, she found out on their first date that Ben was a concert pianist also. The two fell in love quickly and would play duet piano recitals later in high school. Ben and Dona were married August 8, 1948 and later became long-time residents of Rolling Hills, California where they raised their four sons. Raising the "boys" became her full-time career. This lead to her position as President of the local Parent-Teachers Association and later as President and 42-year board member of the Peninsula Committee Children's Hospital benefiting Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
She was a cherished wife, devoted mother, generous grandmother and great grandmother, and friend whose presence would light up a room. For those of us lucky enough to have known Dona personally, her passing has created a void that will never be filled. She will be missed each and every day. She was completely dedicated to her family and husband Ben. She was a woman of integrity whose actions personified her values and a great sense of humor that always greeted you with a smile. May she now rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father, in peace at last.
Dona is the mother of four children, Ken (Lynn), Dan, Kris (Julie), Don (Kim) and thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dona will be laid to rest Wednesday, July 23rd in a private family ceremony at Green Hills Cemetery. The family has asked that in-lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles,
