Our beloved Husband, Father, "Pop Pop", Brother, and Uncle, Domingo "George" Rubilar passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at age 66.
George was born October 22, 1957 in San Pedro, CA and was a proud San Pedran, his entire life. He attended Harbor Christian School until his senior year, then graduated from Narbonne High School in 1975. After trying a handful of different jobs, he fell in love with freight truck driving. This past February, he proudly celebrated 35 years with FedEx Freight.
More than anything, George was a devoted, loving husband to his wife, Lynda for 44 years.
His biggest joys in life were his children: Erin, Nick, and Andrew, as well as, his grandchildren: Aiden, Desilu, Avery, Nicholas Jr, Penelope, and Harlan. He loved sharing his stories, going for drives, vacationing, cheering on his kids and grandkids at all their activities, but most of all, making memories.
George was adopted and raised as an only child by his parents, Carmen and Domingo "Jorge" Rubilar. He always wanted to be part of a larger family and found that when he married into the Olivieri's, where he built bonds with his extended family that surpassed typical in-law relationships. One can imagine his joy to finally find an older brother, David Dixon, at 62 years old. This May, they were able to meet face-to-face after years of talking on the phone and creating an unbreakable bond.
George loved his art and doing projects with his kids and grandkids. His talents could also be seen every year around the track at our Relay for Life events for family and friends. George even made safety posters for his job.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Domingo J. Rubilar. He leaves behind his wife Lynda. His children, Erin and (Louie), Bryan, and (Toshini), Nick and (Anel), David and (Kim), and Andrew. His grandchildren, Aiden, Desilu, Avery, Nicholas Jr, Penelope, and Harlan. His brother, David Dixon. In addition, he leaves behind his in-laws, niece, nephews and many friends.
