Domenica Di Iorio Pianca

March 31, 1925 — January 18, 2016

Domenica Di Iorio Pianca of San Pedro California passed away on January 18, 2016 at the age of 90. "Minichina", as she was affectionately known by those who knew her the longest, was born on the island of Ischia, Italy, on March 31, 1925. She married Carlo Pianca immediately after WWII. After living in Milan, her husband's home, they left for Argentina where their daughter, Marina, was born. Years later, they came to San Pedro, where she lived the rest of her 50 years on this earth surrounded by her loving siblings: brother Ralph and sister Delfina as well as her caring brother in law, Frankie. As the family grew through marriages and births she enjoyed the love of her grandson Aldo (Roxanne) and great grandson Zephyr. Her nieces Maria (Bob) and Cristina (Bill), her nephew Vince (Terry) as well as all their children (John, Phillip, Alyssa, Tiffany and Erica) brought joy to her life for many years. She loved all of us with all her heart and she would have given her life willingly for our wellbeing at any moment. That is who she was, a deeply human, selfless woman whose heart of gold was full of love. Her inner beauty seemed to manifest itself through a remarkably ageless appearance that spoke to her inherent goodness, grace and love of life. We cannot imagine life without her but she will always be with us. Those who had the fortune to meet her know that she is difficult to forget. We know in turn that she will not forget us. She will continue to protect us and care for us as she always has only that from high above in the company of those that preceded her on that long journey home. Dearest "Minichina," thank you for the time you shared with us here, a thousand thanks to you as we honor your strength and admire you in every aspect of your wondrous being. You shined here, you will shine in heaven above us. Grazie mamma mia bella. Mille grazie. Funeral Services at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel on Monday, January 25, 2016.
