Dolores Maxine (Underwood) Miller

September 12, 1932 — May 2, 2024

Dolores “Dee” Miller, 91, of San Pedro, California passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2024. She was born in Primrose, Boone, Nebraska, the second of four daughters of Ivan Glen Underwood and Elsie Elizabeth (Spencer) Underwood. The family moved a number of times as Dolores grew up, spending time in the states of Nebraska, Iowa, Oregon and Washington before finally settling in the San Pedro area of Los Angeles County, California.

In November 1953, Dolores married Clyde Eugene Miller. Together they had four sons, one who passed away shortly after birth. Dolores and Clyde divorced in March of 1972. Dolores was a devoted mother. Employed in clerical positions until she entered into the medical office management field, she eventually become Office Manager for a local urology group. She spent over 50 years dedicated to gaining knowledge and expertise in her field. After her retirement she was asked returned to work briefly to assist the office in training and other management responsibilities.

Dolores greatly enjoyed cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and family gatherings especially those connected with holidays. She was an avid shopper. She was an extremely strong willed, determined and opinionated person.

Dolores had been on dialysis for the last several years always putting on a brave face. She leaves behind three sons: Chuck (Pam) of West Lynn, Oregon; Robert (Judy) of Palos Verde Estates; Fred of San Pedro; sister Loraine (John) Wolbers of Rancho Palos Verdes; five grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan Glen and Elsie Elizabeth Underwood; son James William; sisters Elva Darlene File and Donna Mae (Andy) Yamada.
