Dolores Faye Grippando went home to be with the Lord on December 4. Born August 4, 1928, in Hartford, Arkansas, she was a San Pedro resident for over 70 years. She was married to Frank Grippando, Jr. for forty years until his death in 1987.
Celebrated for her delicious pies, beautiful rose garden, and handmade quilts, she was a faithful Christian who was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lomita and then the Narbonne Avenue Baptist Church for many years. After spending the first half of her life as a homemaker, she went to work as an L.A. Unified School District teacher’s aide after becoming a widow.
Affectionately called “Nana” or “Toby” by family and friends, she leaves her three sons (Tony (Ilona), Daryl (Eileen), and Mike (Jenny)); five grandchildren (Gina, Daniel, Amber, Vincent (Gloria), and Darren (Haley)); three great grandsons (Rocco, Elias, and Caleb); and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, December 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
