Derek William Arnall, the son of Peter and Gladys Arnall of Sutton, England, passed away at his home in Huntington Beach with his family at his side on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Graduating from Southhampton University in Southhampton, England with a degree in aeronautical engineering, he worked for Hawker Siddeley in Farnham, England for 10 years. In 1979 he moved to California to accept a position at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach. He continued to hold a variety of engineering positions with the company in southern California and at Edwards Air Force Base over the next 35 years. Born on January 13, 1949 in the city of Plymouth in Devon County, England, he was an avid soccer and formula one racing enthusiast. He became a longtime resident of Huntington Beach. He is survived by his wife, Joan Hungerford, sons, Michael Colin and Matthew Scott, his sister, Jeanette Wallace of Sutton, England, his brother, David Arnall of Farnham, England and six nephews. A committal service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. Any gifts to the American Liver Foundation at
