Dennis Richard Sutlovich

Dennis Richard Sutlovich, of San Pedro, passed away July 22, 2023 age 77, from complications of Alzheimer’s. Dennis was born & raised in San Pedro, graduated from San Pedro High, & attended Harbor College where he met Nancy, the love of his life. They were married for 53 years. He also attended LA City College where he learned architecture & got his contractor’s license.

Dennis retired after 40 years with the City of Los Angeles as a Senior Building Inspector for the Dept. of Building & Safety. During that time, he was the architect & builder for not only his own home, where they raised a family & lived for over 50 years, but for many other family & friends in the community.

He was a talented builder - building boats (life size and miniature), as well as motorcycles & furniture. Dennis also loved to hunt, fish & cook – he was an amazing cook who could always be found in the kitchen or at his BBQ, & loved cooking for large crowds. He enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, water skiing, wine tasting, camping in Alaska, cruises, & exploring in their fifth wheel camper.

He is predeceased by his wife, Nancy, son, Andrew John (6 mos.), parents, Daniel & Vilma Sutlovich, & brothers, Anthony & Barry Sutlovich. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Matthew & Tami Sutlovich, daughter & son-in-law, Michelle & Shawn Freeman, & grandchildren Madison & Gloria Sutlovich, & Patrick, Ashlynne & Aaron Freeman, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
