On Monday March 27, 2023, Deborah Ann Shriber, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed into glory at the age of 75.
Deborah, or Debbie as she liked to be called, was born on March 7, 1948 in Rochester, NY to Frederick and Susan Louk. She was raised with her 3 siblings, Susan, Rick, and Chris, in Torrance, California. Debbie was proud of being involved in the West Torrance High marching band as a baton twirler, marching in the Pasadena Rose Parade. Later, she was working as a switchboard operator for the US Air Force Base in El Segundo, when she met and married Larry D. Shriber in 1972. They had four children, Carrie, Jason, Jesse, and Katie. After spending 13 years in Corvallis, Oregon, Debbie moved back to Torrance with her children, where she worked as a bank teller for Comerica Bank for 30 years. She was known for her quiet & cheerful spirit, beautiful smile, sparkling green eyes, and classy style. She loved to garden, sew, paint, and make stained glass art. She loved to create unique personalized gifts for friends and family. Debbie loved shopping on the weekends, especially antique shops and thrift stores. She also really enjoyed attending her grandsons’ Colin and Reilley’s school classes, events and field trips after her retirement, and made several trips to see her sons and granddaughters in Oregon and Alaska, and daughter in Texas.
Debbie learned she had cancer in August 2021. She always said she was a “glass half full” kind of person, so patiently endured each new trial in her life as it came. She was a faithful Christian and attended Branch of Hope OPC with her daughter Carrie and family for many years. Debbie especially loved Deuteronomy 28:1-3, Psalm 23 and the Lord’s Prayer in the Bible. Some of her favorite hymns were “How Great Thou Art”, “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”, and “Here I am to Worship.”
Deborah was preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Susan Louk and her grandson Oliver Booth. She is survived by her four children, Carrie (Eddie) Booth, Jason (JoLynn) Shriber, Jesse Shriber, and Katie (Chris) Koelling, her four grandchildren, Mallory, Colin, Kyla, and Reilley, and by her 3 surviving siblings, Susan, Rick (Gloria), and Chris (Kathy).
