Dawn Golding

September 14, 1965 — May 22, 2023

Rancho Palos Verdes: Dawn Golding, 57, passed away on May 22 after battling congestive heart failure. She was the beloved wife of Matthew Golding, married almost 32 years. Dawn was the devoted mother of Rebecca, 28 and Joshua, 25. She was the daughter of Eileen and the late Robert Hecht, MD and sister to Suzanne Sallus, Jason Hecht, and Reed Hecht. She was Sister-in-law to Ellen and David Rosenblatt, Larry and Cynthia Golding, Jeff Sallus, Katie Hecht, and Elaine Hecht and the adored aunt to Sam Rosenblatt, Eliot Golding, Daniel Sallus, Jared Sallus, and Ivy Hecht.

Dawn received her BA from the University of Colorado and her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. As an Occupational Therapist for 32 years, Dawn cared for patients in many settings, from pediatrics to geriatrics, acute care to skilled nursing facilities. For the past 10 years, she worked in the Home Health department at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. Additionally, Dawn oversaw and managed a side OT business that served adult clients who were part of day programs, needing extra support and therapies. As an experienced OT, she was part “MacGyver” and always a dedicated and resourceful caregiver, finding solutions to the many challenges that her clients faced. She was driven to find options that kept them safe at home and assisted them on their individual roads to recovery. Dawn’s knowledge of appropriate therapy products and services was unparalleled and, in an effort to help members of the community, acquired and oversaw a small loaner library of durable medical products for those requiring equipment. Dawn was an active swimmer, played tennis and pickle ball and loved taking walks along the coast with her beloved golden retriever, Riley. An avid baker and cook, she enjoyed trying out new recipes, especially replicating tastes from places she travelled to.

Services will be held at Congregation Ner Tamid, 5721 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes on Sunday, May 28 at 10 a.m. with streaming availability here (Password: CNTZOOM) for those who cannot attend. The Shiva Memorial observance will be private, but an online virtual gathering will be conducted on Thursday June 1. In lieu of flowers, online donations in Dawn’s memory may be made to two causes that were very important to her: Dana Farber Cancer Research or Canine Companions.
