David Lee Warren

April 28, 1955 — September 26, 2019

David Lee Warren, age 64, of San Pedro passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Born on April 28, 1955, he was raised in San Diego, son to Earl and Louise Warren and beloved “baby” brother to two older sisters, Sallye (Ehmcke) and Yolanda (Millan). David graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

Resident of San Pedro for over 30 years, David had a special presence in the community. He worked in the wholesale garment industry over 20 years, and then became a substitute teacher at San Pedro High School in his second career. Channeling his love of sports and his passion for working with youth, David coached his daughter’s AYSO soccer teams, his son’s basketball teams, and was an assistant boys’ soccer coach at SPHS. He poured his whole heart into mentoring many of his students and was loved by all who knew him. The family couldn’t go anywhere in town without hearing “Hey, Mr. Warren,” to which David would proudly introduce his family and make time to catch up with his students. David’s positive energy was unwavering and he had the ability to light up the room and bring laughter to any situation.

His genuine heart, abundant love, sense of humor, and infectious laugh will be forever missed by his wife, Lori; children, Christine and Steven; sisters, sisters in-law and brothers-in-law along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019, 11:30 am at Green Hills Memorial Chapel. Those whose lives David touched are welcomed to attend. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks for the prayers and well wishes from the entire community over the last several weeks.
