David S. Kurt

David S. Kurt, the son of Leo and Martha Kurt, passed away on March 26, 2014 at the age of 71. He was born on January 13, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa and had been a long time resident of Palos Verdes, Ca. Dave earned his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University of Los Angeles and his MBA from Loyola Marymount University. He received ChFC and CLU through The American College. His career path included being a claims manager, financial consultant, personal income tax preparer, and litigation coordinator before devoting his final years as parish administrator for St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. Dave supported and served on the Southern California Football Officials Association, the Southern California Collegiate Football Association, the Los Angeles International Airport Optimist Club, the Southern California Volleyball Officials Association, and the San Pedro Elks. A few of his personal interests were bowling, handball, softball, and golf. David is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Kurt; children, David Kurt, James Kurt, Christina Ross, Catherine Kurt and Jennifer Heckman; grandchildren, Jeffrey Kurt, Kevin Kurt, Sean Ross and Brennan Ross and sisters, Mary Ann Wahlner, Martha Teague and Kathleen Yocum, as well as many close and dear friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 from 4 – 8pm at Green Hills Mortuary with a Mass on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11am at St. John Fisher Catholic Church 5448 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
