David Ray Atkinson

David Ray Atkinson, passed away peacefully, in his home on August 13, 2022. A 46 year resident of El Segundo, Dave is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Carol; sons, Matthew and Zachary (Tiffany); granddaughter, Sophia; sister, Sally (Mart); brothers, Daniel (Dee) and Tomas (Fawn); and many nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Elkhart Indiana, Dave served in the US Air Force prior to meeting his wife Carol and relocating to El Segundo. He was a salesman in the auto industry for over 25 years before retiring to dedicate more time with his two sons. In 2012 he was elected to El Segundo City Council where he proudly served his hometown and accomplished many projects. He was most excited to bring Top Golf to El Segundo and was able to play a round with his son Zack before his passing, a final wish he fulfilled. Dave enjoyed golfing with his friends and you could always find him at the Richmond Bar and Grill on Thursdays grabbing a post round beer. He was the life of the party and a loyal friend. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday, August 22nd at 11:00AM at Douglas Mortuary in El Segundo. 500 E Imperial Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245. A celebration of life will follow.
