It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Darline Ventura. Darline left us peacefully on July 28, 2024. Darline’s life was a vibrant tapestry of love, family and adventure.
She was born on October 30, 1934 to Paul of Filipino descent and Laura of Hispanic descent in Los Angeles, CA. Darline grew up in Los Angeles, and had fond memories of travels and adventure.
In the mid 1950’s Darline married Ted and moved to San Pedro where together they raised their 5 children Dave (Amy), Eugene (Linda), Ted, Cindy (David), and Claudine (Pete). She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, and raised her family to do so as well. Darline loved cooking for her family, and took a special pride in her holiday dinners.
As a mom she enjoyed being involved with her children’s activities. She was known through the community as a volunteer in PTA, Bloch Field Baseball, Pop Warner, and San Pedro Boosters.
In her community she was a force in making sure the tank farm off 22nd street was removed. She was an amazing wife to Ted, he often said he was lucky she found him. Together they enjoyed a wonderful social life and family time. After Ted’s passing, she married Phil Ventura, and together they enjoyed traveling the world. But her greatest joy was being a grandmother to Cherie, Wesley, Matthew (Jaclyn), Jackie, Paul (Anjuli), Daniel (Nisha), Jennifer, Todd, and Ken.
She retired from Raytheon so that she could spend more time with her grandchildren, and later great grandchildren Javian, Marley, Jaheem, William, Ezra, Benjamin, and great-great grandchild Jay’mari.
As we remember Darline, we celebrate a life well-lived. Darline’s passion for music and dancing was infectious, she brought light and laughter wherever she went. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
