Danilo Palacio Magbitang of Carson, CA passed away on December 16, 2022 at age 85. Born in Manila, Philippines on July 18,1937 to Pacifico and Toribia Magbitang, he was the youngest of four children.
Affectionately known as ‘Danny’ or ‘Honey Danny’ by his family and friends, Danny was the beloved husband of Carolina Magbitang for 45 years. Together they had three children, Suzanne, Catherine and Danny. Following Carolina’s passing, he married Teresita Leyba and became stepfather to Katherine.
Danny was raised in Manila, Philippines. After attending Torres High School, he enlisted in
the United States Navy on April 3, 1959. He proudly served in the US Navy for 21 years –
retiring from active duty as a Mess Management Specialist First Class Petty Officer (MS1) on
March 30, 1980. Following his naval career, Danny worked as a Marine electrician at the Long
Beach Naval Shipyard.
Danny’s love of cooking brought family and friends together throughout his life – leaving lasting
memories of laughter and love around the kitchen table. He enjoyed traveling, playing
poker, spending time with his friends and being surrounded by loved ones. Danny was a loving
husband, supportive father, wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather. He was selfless –
someone you could count on when you needed him, and a true family man. He will be missed
and always remain a strong presence in our lives, and more importantly, in our hearts.
Danny is survived by his wife, Teresita, children Suzanne, Catherine, Danny, Katherine,
grandchildren Summer, Tiffany, Jessica, Joey, Owen, Everett and great grandchildren Jazmine,
CJ, Henry and Aiden.
Viewings will be held on Tuesday, January 17th and Wednesday, January 18th, 4:30-8:30 p.m. at Green Hills Mortuary Chapel, 27501 S. Western Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19th, 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2551 Eshelman Ave, Lomita, CA 90717.
