Cora Duarte

Cora Duarte passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving daughters and family. One of five siblings, she was raised in Redondo Beach, CA and a resident for over 70 years where she attended Redondo Union High School. She later attended Santa Monica Beauty College and became a beautician, and worked in Redondo Beach at various salons an was an active member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and school where she ran the Mexican kitchen for their annual Fiesta. She was also an active volunteer at South Bay Hospital and later she worked for Redondo Beach Medical Clinic in medical records. She is survived by her three daughters, DeeDee White (David), Polly Duarte (Alan Matsunaga), and Sharon (Steve) Priest, and brothers John and Louis Soliz, 6 grandchildren, Kandis (Angelo) Gumbs, Sydney Duarte-Groves, Katelyn, Kyle, and Jackie Priest, Alison Matsunaga and four great-grandchildren Hailey White, Andruw, Kendal and Marcel Gumbs. Preceded in death by parents, Domingo and Jessie Soliz, her sister Esther Huante, and brother David Soliz. She was a favorite aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. A service in her honor will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:30 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Hermosa Beach with graveside services at Green Hills Memorial Park in San Pedro.
